Spring Family Camping- Raccoon Mountain Caverns

Friday, April 26- Sunday, April 28

Join us for our annual Spring Pack 405 camping trip! This year we will be camping at Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park April 26-28. Friday will be arrival and set up. Please bring something for your own family for dinner and if you'd like, something to share with the pack for snacks. (No nuts). We will be doing a guided tour through Raccoon Mountain Caverns that Saturday, and also have free time to enjoy Chattanooga however you'd like that afternoon. We highly recommend visiting the National Military Park that we are camping at. There are also lots of other opportunities like panning for gems at Raccoon Mountain or visiting close-by sites like Lookout Mountain or Ruby Falls. We will meet back for dinner that evening at the campsite. Sunday will be a quick "grab-and-go" breakfast as families pack up to leave.

If you don't want to camp the whole weekend, you are more than welcome to take a day-trip up on Saturday. Our tour at Raccoon Mountain Caverns begins at 11 AM. The Crystal Palace Tour is a 45-55 minute guided walking tour through the first 1/4 mile of the cave. This section of the cave has been modified to include lights, pathways, steps, and handrails. Education is the focus of our tours and your guide will explain how caves form, provide a history of the cave, and point out a wide variety of formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, and much more, including rare shield and helictite formations!

(No children under 4 allowed to attend cavern tour, due to venue policy)
